IP NETWORK HOSTING BY NORTEL PARTNER AZURANCE CUTS COSTS, FREES INVESTMENT CAPITAL FEBRUARY 07, 2007. GUANGZHOU - The new Nansha Pearl River Delta World Trade Center in China's strategic southern port city of Guangzhou is powering personalized, intelligent multimedia communications services for residents and guests using a converged IP network from Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT].

The customer-focused showpiece of the 22-storey tower is a personalized communications experience available to guests in 231 luxury rooms and 148 serviced apartments via the Nortel IP Phone 2007. Featuring a color touch-screen, the in-room IP Phones provides high quality VoIP services and access to service requests. The IP Phones will also enable the Nansha World Trade Center to provide powerful multimedia messaging services that combine voicemail, fax and e-mail into a sifngle location accessible from anywhere, whether over the Internet or by telephone.

"Our mission is to provide five-star hotel-style serviced apartments that deliver the highest level of communications efficiency and innovation to our executive residents and guests," said Eddie Yi, general manager, Nansha World Trade Center. "Nortel's complete converged IP solution is helping us strengthen our position as a provider of high quality resident services. In addition, outsourcing network management and maintenance to Nortel business partner Azurance is saving internal operational costs and freeing significant capital for ongoing investment."

The Nansha World Trade Center also plans to use the Nortel IP Phone to make IPTV and streaming video such as traffic, weather and financial market reports from external application servers available to guests.

"Nortel's IP Phone 2007 is a true 'information appliance' that can serve as a strategic asset for increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty," said David Wong, managing director, Hong Kong, Macau and South China, Nortel. "We believe the solution also extends the benefits of Nortel's Business Made Simple approach to the hospitality industry."

"Until now, Asian businesses have not been able to take advantage of out-sourcing and hosting options as they simply have not been available to them, unlike their North American counterparts who have been using these solutions for some time," said Brad Pfeffer, Managing Director of Azurance, Greater China. "A major benefit of outsourcing your IT and communications infrastructure, is that it allows organizations to maintain focus on their core business, and save significant capital for investing in their future."

The Nortel solution is comprised of the Nortel Communication Server 1000 IP PBX, which enables the advanced telephony and multimedia capabilities to the Nortel IP Phone 2007, as well as the Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 to provide the resilience, security and intelligence of a truly unified communications network. The Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 5520 has also been deployed to provide high-density Gigabit desktop connectivity for the Nansha World Trade Center residents as well as Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability for the Nortel IP phones.  Azurance is a Hong Kong-based Nortel business partner specializing in complete outsourced solutions, such as hosting services, that allow enterprises to focus on core business rather than building and managing their own communications infrastructure.
